Cyber Crime & Law

Technology is what has empowered us tremendously. But recently the technology has taken new dimension for committing heinous crimes and the crimes are technology intensive. In this era of hi-technology, our law is yet to keep pace with the crime.

Our government needs to have urgent look at the current development and take appropriate steps to check the menace of the cyber crimes. Merely charting out some of them would not suffice.

In India, we largely rely on the Information Technology Act, Indian Penal Code, Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, Maharastra Control of Organised Crime Act, etc. But these laws are not sufficient deal with the crimes that needs special attention.

Moreover with passing of Criminal Procedure (Amendment) act by Loksabha would allow bail in almost all crimes which is surely not a good thing and needs to be addressed adequately by the government given the facts of recent developments.
